Thanks, Gardenridge. I use "superfine" for meringues, etc., too, but local supermarket people had never heard of it. Then I discovered they call it "bar sugar" hereabouts.

The regular sugar here is quite a bit finer than the stuff in the UK and it works fine for mint sauce. No need to look for superfine. I use Balsamic vinegar in mine.

Ah, you're too kind Nikki! Sorry - I thought I wrote that in there... cottage pie, apparently made with beef; while shepherd's pie is made with lamb. That's what Gordon said anyway.
